Deacon Dennis Moore

Married June 20, 1970 (widowed 2020)

After a 35- year career Deacon Dennis retired from University of Vermont Medical Center in 2012. While at the Medical Center he held a leadership role as the Director of Supply Chain management. In his role at the University of Vermont Deacon Dennis was responsible for sterility and quality monitoring of surgical instruments and supply distribution throughout the multi campus complex.

In 2000 Deacon Dennis received the prestigious Leonard Leipus award from the American Society of Central Services Professionals of the American Hospital Association for “Outstanding Contribution to the Healthcare Central Service Profession”.

University of Vermont honored Deacon Dennis for his contribution to excellence patient care by awarding him the Fletcher Allen Employee “Spirit” Award in 2007. This Award is given annually to the employee who demonstrates a high level of spirit and commitment to the University’s mission and values.

Deacon Dennis was ordained to the order of the Permanent Diaconate by Kenneth Angell DD, Bishop of the Diocese of Burlington, Vermont on June 28, 2003. Deacon Dennis is currently assigned to Ascension Parish in Georgia, VT.

Deacon Dennis joined Catholic Charities in 2008 as the Coordinator of Prison Ministry where he was responsible for the coordination of volunteers involved in the Ministry work in Vermont Prisons.

In 2012 after a kidney transplant, Deacon Dennis retired from the University of Vermont and continued to work with Catholic Charities as the Coordinator of Case Management and Financial Aid Services.

During the summer months while living in Vermont Deacon Dennis volunteers at Martha’s Community Kitchen in Saint Albans, Vermont.
