Confirmation

Confirmation, along with Baptism and Holy Eucharist, is a one of the three Sacraments of Initiation. According to the Catechism of the Catholic Church, "Confirmation is necessary for the completion of baptismal grace, for by the Sacrament of Confirmation, the baptized are more perfectly bound to the Church and are enriched with a special strength of the Holy Spirit. Hence, they are, as true witnesses of Christ, more strictly obliged to spread and defend the faith by word and deed." (CCC 1285)

HOW IT WORKS?

It is a two year preparation
It starts in 8th grade; all 8th graders (if not signed up already) need to register and participate in"PowerUP" program (click on Religious Education, then - Middle Grades to register online); this completes their first year of preparation
Second year (freshman high school) includes classes and participation in "PowerUP" (youth group) formation

Dear Parents/Guardians, we are asking you to make a commitment to the Confirmation Process. At baptism, you brought your child forward and made a commitment to raise him/her Catholic. Now, your youth is being asked to make their own commitment to the Catholic Faith in the Sacrament of Confirmation. In this process, there are many important aspects we ask you to keep in mind as your child prepares: a) ATTEND SUNDAY MASS; b) pray with and for your child; c)bring them to each class and retreat; d) help them to find service opportunities; e) encourage them to complete the written requirements.
